Rip the Calico
This anglo-scots trio from the West Country is new on the folk scene.
It consists of singer song-writer and guitarist Terry Williams, virtuoso whistle player Fiona Williams and fiddle player Mark Stephenson...
Together they bring traditional numbers to life with the occasional self-penned piece from Terry.
Review by Jem Bowden- FaB Club- Essex- 4th June 06:
Terry plays in a fine strident Carthyesque folk guitar style, Fiona adding dimension with her accomplished whistle playing. Their first number was “Down in the Valleys” which incorporated a clever rhythm change in the middle. They ended with the atmospheric “Rainbows over Donegal”. Both songs are Terry’s own compositions.
